Clodagh Redden Ceramics
Clodagh Redden is a ceramicist who for a number of years was based in the National Sculpture Factory in Cork, Ireland.

After graduating with a B.Des in Ceramics in 1993 from Limerick School of Art and Design, she utilized the NSF facilities to create work for the Victor Treacy Award Show in Kilkenny which she went on to win.

Following this she completed a Masters Degree in the University of Wales Institute in Cardiff in 1994. Clodagh returned to the NSF, making the most of the large kiln to produce her highly successful 'Soulboats' amongst other artworks and commissions. Her work has been sold in selected outlets in Ireland and the UK and has been used as presentation pieces to United States Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, Mary Robinson, Bertie Ahern, King Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin of Malayasia, Chinese Vice President, Hu Jintao, Former Minister of Defence, Willie O'Dea, Former Minister of Arts and Culture, Micheal D Higgins and JP McManus,

The themes and motifs used in her work of the labyrinth and boat are symbolic of a spiritual journey through life and death. The labyrinth represents the journey of life, the path of travel and escape into the next world. The image of the boat in which souls travel through the nether regions between life and death is also a common motif in ancient mythology.

Clodagh tries to capture the mystery and mood of this transitional vessel through the medium of ceramics, both in freestanding pieces and by using the clay as a 'canvas' on which to draw and write, whilst maintaining the intrinsic quality of the clay.

She currently lives and works near Skibbereen, Co Cork, Ireland.
